The 2 & 1/2″ Sasher™ Tool is PQW’s version of a bias maker. It allows you to quickly and easily fold bias or straight grain fabric strips using just the Sasher Tool and an iron.
Use the 2” Sasher to make:
- Stems and vines for applique
- Sashing strips for Quilt As You Go quilt making,
- Bias tape for Celtic or stained glass applique
- Bag handles
- Binding for quilts
- Facings and trims for dressmaking
- Cover strips and seams for bias folds in fabrics
It’s also a great size for making 1 & 1/4” wide bag handles! Simply put a 5” strip through the 2 & 1/2” sasher — then, through the 1 & 1/4” sasher for bag handles with no turning through! (Although you will need to add your wadding / batting after folding.)
You will notice that the sides of the Sasher have a curved shape. This is so that the curved edge of an iron can neatly fit against the Sasher as you push it along; which means no more burnt fingers! We recommend using the mini travel iron, as it fits perfectly in the curve of the Sasher.
Please note: the size on the Sasher is the finished size of the folded strip. If you require a 2 & 1/2” finished size, cut the fabric 5” wide and then put it through your 2 & 1/2” Sasher.
