Reynolds Kitchen Freezer Paper has one side that is shiny. When ironed onto fabric, the shiny side will stick!
It can be removed and re-ironed several times before it becomes too fuzzy to stick anymore. Freezer paper has a nice weight. You can then see through it for tracing designs.
Freezer Paper is a fantastic tool for sewing and quilting, being used for many applications, such as drawing stencils, paper-piecing, and even as stabiliser.
Matilda’s Own Batting Joiner No Sew Batting Joiner tape is 4cm x 20m in dimensions. This fusible tape is used for joining batting and waddings with absolutely NO sewing required!

Similar to interfacing, it has a fusible side with a 2.5″ grid on it used for fabric square placement. Note that a 2.5″ grid results in a 2″ finished square

Woven Wash Away, as its name implies, is a stabiliser that dissolves and “washes away” in water. Use this woven material as backing and stability for embroidered lacemaking, then simply dissolve it away in warm soapy water to leave your designs behind! Typically used for lace-making and other free-standing projects.

‘Solvy’ is technically a ‘washaway’, as it is a water-soluble material. Solvy differs as it appears plastic and transparent, and has a filmy thin texture. Solvy is the ideal topping for fabric and materials with a pile – towels, polar fleece garments, etc. The softer and bulkier the fabric, the easier stitches tend to disappear into the material resulting in unsightly embroideries – so use Solvy to combat this. It is not ideal for lacemaking, as it is not as thick/stiff, and is likely to tear under the strain.

‘Dimple’ is a specialised tear away variant that is generally softer than standard tear aways, and is evenly perforated (dimpled!) to make the act of tearing away your backing easier, and to eliminate any distortion or warping of your embroidered design in the tearing process. This backing is best utilised on light-weight woven or knit fabrics, and/or any delicate design work.

Sticky Backing is a tear away backing variant that has been treated to have a tack/sticky quality, sleeved against a sheet of release paper. The sticky side of this backing (behind your release sheet) is pressure sensitive, only reaching its full “sticky” potential once it has been pressed onto, or otherwise applied to a fabric or garment. Use this stabiliser for your hard to hoop projects and small items; such as – pockets, socks, cuffs, belts, shirt collars, etc. This backing is also fantastic for preventing ‘hoop-burn’ when working with fabrics like velour and brushed corduroy!

No Show Cut Away is a specialised low-profile cut away variant, considerably softer and with more sheer than a standard cut away backing. Designed originally to be used specifically on performance-wear garments/materials and also moisture-wicking fabrics, No Show offers a considerably lower threshold of visibility while only sacrificing a small amount of stability when compared to normal cut away. A single piece of No Show will easily handle designs ranging from up to 8,000 stitches — but for anything more, considering using two pieces (and also do so for those especially stretch garments/materials.) If you want low-profile, it has to be No Show!

Applifix iron-on fusible webbing is perfect for any form of applique. It’s easier to work with and doesn’t come off the backing until you want it to!
Great for stitching through multiple layers of fabric yet thick enough for a strong bond for machine applique. Use as a substitute for vliesofix or HeatNBond — and see the amazing difference!
